Take a look around

Our accommodation

Oakland House is a recently renovated large detached property. Accommodation is arranged as three units over three floors, each with communal lounges, dining rooms, shared bathrooms and access to a shared garden. We have an adaptable food menu to provide nutritional meal choices that cater to dietary and cultural requirements, as well as rehabilitation kitchens on each floor where residents can prepare their own snacks. Each service user has their own lockable bedroom, which they are encouraged to personalise to create a private space for themselves.

Our services

We provide psychiatric support, nursing and residential care for adults living with enduring or complex mental illness.

Our three units – Willow, Cedar and Elm – each have their own floor within the property and include of 7-13 residents who are assigned based on their age and individual needs. All units are male and female mixed, with the ground floor unit dedicated to adults aged 60 + who require full nursing and psychiatric support.

Feels like home

Designed to encourage individuality and a sense of inclusion, Oakland House has undergone a major refurbishment to include more colour, creativity and incorporate the ideas of our service users into our shared spaces. This sense of community and collaboration is at the heart of what we do. Our goal is to facilitate a daily life that feels as independent as possible, with communal spaces and shared gardens where individuals can take part in enriching activities and exercise – but with private and personalised bedrooms that feel like home.

What our staff say, Zubeda Mukamudenge

"I joined Equilibrium healthcare following the recommendation of a friend who had been with them for over 4 years. After 1 year in Equilibrium healthcare, I was given an opportunity to be a Lead support worker, I was trained in various subjects as an in-house trainer. I have enjoyed facilitating training and meeting different amazing staff of EHC. Recently, another opportunity came in EHC for support workers to train to become Registered Nursing associates with a chance to complete a full degree and graduate as a qualified Nurse with the University of Salford. I applied and was once again given an opportunity to dream bigger. I am currently working as a trainee nurse associate at Oakland house nursing home."

What our service users say, Mr P. Bennett

"When I first arrived here I was very underweight and highly dependent on alcohol, with the ongoing help I have reduced the amount I now drink and eat very well every day. If I have an issue that is troubling me I know I can share this with any of the great team of people who work here and solutions are often quickly reached, which gives me a sense of well-being and confidence.”

CQC report, August 2020

“The provider was approached by local health and social care commissioners to train other care homes in infection prevention and control procedures. An integrated model of support was developed to enhance the city response to the coronavirus crisis. This collaborative effort involved staff from both Equilibrium Healthcare and the local NHS.”
