High-secure rehabilitation service

Trauma-informed therapeutic support

If you or a loved one is living with complex mental health needs and/or an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), you’ll know how hard it can be to find or access the right support. Here at Bridging Point, we offer short-term placements that give adults a chance to stabilise, recover, and plan for the future.

Our service is designed for people who need more than community support but don’t belong in long-term hospital care. Our team combines compassion with evidence-based care to help every individual feel safe, understood, and ready for life beyond treatment.

Our approach

Every placement at Bridging Point is designed around the person. We follow a low-arousal, low-restraint model that prioritises early discharge planning, so future transitions feel smooth and supported.

Our team works closely with individuals to identify triggers, reduce stress, and build stronger coping skills. The aim is always to support safe recovery and reduce the chances of future crisis or hospital readmission.

Our care is calm, consistent, and personal to every individual. We provide:

  • Specialist short-term rehabilitation (6–18 months)
  • Trauma-informed care with minimal restraint
  • Personalised therapeutic pathways built around the individual
  • A strong focus on recovery, independence, and future goals

Our care model helps adults with complex mental health needs and/or ASD stabilise, develop coping strategies, and prepare for a successful return to community life.

Meeting individual needs

At Bridging Point, no two placements look the same. Plans are built around the person, not the other way round. We work on what matters most for day-to-day life. That might be finding calmer ways to handle stress, keeping on top of daily routines, or making safer choices.

What this often means in practice:

  • Safer ways of managing behaviours like self-harm or aggression

  • More consistent emotional coping skills

  • A reduced risk of staying in hospital long term

  • Clearer discharge and transition plans

  • Growing independence with everyday tasks

  • Steps back into education, work, or community life

Every placement is structured around a personalised pathway, co-produced with the individual wherever possible. We support therapeutic engagement, life skills and clear planning for the future, with regular reviews to track progress and adapt support.

Specialist units

Bridging Point is a modern facility set in beautiful grounds, just a short walk from Didsbury village and Withington.

There are four different units, each designed to support you at different stages of your recovery.

On admission, you’ll be placed in the unit that best fits your needs and the level of support you require.

Apex supports up to 10 females with complex emotional and behavioural needs.

The unit offers autism-informed care that is tailored to you. The focus is on helping you understand your emotions, build coping skills, and work towards long-term stability.

Pinnacle delivers specialist support for up to 10 males who may have high-risk or challenging behaviours, including those with forensic backgrounds.

The focus is on understanding behaviour, creating a safe environment, and helping you develop skills for everyday life.

Opening in 2026, Crest will offer specialist care for up to 9 individuals within a single-gender setting.

Summit has five independent apartments, each with a kitchenette and a shared lounge.

Here, you can practice living more independently and build on the skills you’ve developed during your time at Bridging Point.

Ground-breaking facilities

Bridging Point’s vibrant, comfortable spaces are designed to support recovery.

Our lounge is modern and relaxed, with soft sofas and beanbags to sink into. There’s a separate dining room for mealtimes, plus a small kitchenette where breakfast can be prepared when it’s safe to do so. Snacks and drinks are available throughout the day.

Bedrooms are ensuite and can be personalised — each person chooses a wall colour before they arrive.

For moments of calm, there’s a soundproof quiet room. It was designed with input from service users and gives a safe space to step away when needed.
